Martin Gantt Living The MMA Dream

Martin “Hand Full” Gantt made his professional debut at 155lb at the King Of The Cage “Turning Point” Event held March 27, 2011 in Los Angeles California.  Martin Hand Full Gant who trains and fights out of Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the tutelage of Alberto Crane, faced off against John Hahn fighting out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.  Hahn, with more professional fights than Hand Full Gantt was also much taller than the compact yet powerful Gantt.

At the start of round 1, Hand Full Gantt came out aggressive with a couple looping hooks to the head and looking for inside control as he tried to take Hahn down.  Undoubtedly to neutralize any reach advantage Hahn may have had against the shorter Gantt.  Hahn countered Hand Full’s charging in by executing a good wizard against the cage and relying on the muay thai clinch to control Hand Full.  That strategy worked for the first round as Hahn was able to defend any take-downs by Hand Full and also delivered a solid knee to Hand Full’s chin which surely scored the first round to the more experienced Hahn.

Hand Full came out the second round and again asserted his pace and control of the fight.  Looping hooks to get inside Hahn’s reach and get a take down.  This time Hand Full was successful, scoring take downs, dictating the pace and going for submissions from the dominate position.  Hand Full also was by far the more aggressive fighter standing in front of Hahn and exchanging blows without any fear of getting caught.  Hand Full won the second round.

With the Final Round, Hand Full dominated.  He got his take down, got Hahn’s back, went for submissions, almost executed the rear naked choke and eventually got a full mount and delivered a “hand full” of ground and pound.  Judges’ Decision – Martin “Hand Full” Gantt 28-27, for Gantt’s first professional victory.

The Psychodad crew was at the event cheering on their long time friend Martin “Hand Full” Gantt.  We’re proud of Gantt for a lot of reasons but mainly because he’s living his dream.  Gantt never gives up, he’s relentless and he’s on his way to a great MMA career.  Gantt is living proof that with hard work, determination and the fighting spirit anyone can live their dream and not just dream it.  Psychodad.com is proud to be a supporter of Martin “Hand Full” Gantt who lives the Psychodad.com way inside and outside the cage.
